Trip to AZ last week

We had a chance to do some rockhounding using the Gem Trails of AZ book as the primary resource the 22nd – 26th of February. This was our first trip using the GPS so the coordinates to the parking area was very useful.  Here are brief notes about a few sites:

Broadwell Dry Lake (S CA Site 32)

Saginaw Hill Minerals (AZ Site 89)

Directions: Mitchell’s directions will get you there, but it is easier to go west from Tucson on Ajo Way, AZ 86, then turn on Sunset or Sheridan as the map in the book shows. Turn left on Irvington and right on Butts Rd which will turn to gravel and lead up toward the hill. The [...]

Moore Canyon Agate and Wood (NM Site 64)

Directions: The Gem Trails map is good, but the photo is out of date. The turn is between the 1 mile marker and a bridge over a small wash just to the south. It looks like you are turning into a ranch.
