This site is spectacular! The creek runs right down by the beach access trail so you don’t have far to go once you park. After about an hour we had a nice collection of large to medium sized agates. We found a small amount of medium-sized petrified wood pieces as well, but they were harder to come by. There is jasper and serpentine in abundance here too. However, they may not polish up very well as they have a lot of pitting and fractures.

We also took the short drive up to Seven Devils Wayside, which is about two miles up the road, but the bedrock here is completely different. Mostly mudstone/siltstone. We had to walk quite a ways down the beach before we discovered anything interesting. Walking about mile south we found a nice shell fossil and a very large piece of petrified wood.

If your looking for excellent tumbler material in this area, then head back towards Bandon to Bullards Beach. We found loads of small to medium agates, nice red jasper, lots of petrified wood, a few fossils, jade and some interesting shells. The best area is the beach over by the lighthouse. At low tide, there is a long run of gravel material that is full of good tumbler rocks.
