Directions: This site is located just northeast of Barstow, CA. From I-15 just east of town take Fort Irwin Rd north 7.1 miles. Turn left on Irwin Rd and after 1/2 mile turn right on a minor dirt road. Follow it 1.9 miles north, then at the base of a small mountain take the road that comes in sharply from the right. Go east 1.1 miles, then turn north and follow this road .3 miles. The site is on the hill just to the right, where there is room to park and camp.

Notes: The dig is most of the way up the hill, marked by the large tailing pile. You will need picks, gads, chisels and heavy mallets to go after the beautiful agate in the main seam. Lesser seams are scattered around the hill, but none as nice as the mother lode.
