Clifton Agate (AZ Site 72)

Directions: It appears that this listing is now obsolete and the site no longer accessible. In the first place the second bridge over the river is not reached by turning off of the highway as the map shows. You have to leave the highway at the first bridge, turn left along the river on Frisco Rd and pass beyond the RV park to reach the second bridge. Soon after the cattle guard shown on the map, a new road appears to have been  constructed along the east side of the river. It extends  for 5 miles with cut and fill excavation that cuts off access to the side canyons. At near 2 miles from the bridge, there is an unmarked side canyon that may be Limestone Canyon.  It is blocked by road fill and is also fenced with no trespassing signs. We saw no other side canyon in the entire 5 miles that was wide or long enough to be Limestone Canyon.
