Directions: Garret’s directions and map will get you there and get you to the various sites. His GPS coordinates are accurate. We came from the Burns side and found the roads to all the collecting sites in very good shape (until it rained).

Notes: Our rock club (Central Oregon Rock Collectors) made a field trip to Warm Springs and camped at the South End boat launch area, near Site B. We worked all three collecting areas, but surprisingly found way more petrified wood than agate, even though the reservoir area is not noted for wood. At Site A we found a few chunks of plume agate and some nodules, but our time there was limited by the weather. At Site B our findings were similar. At Site C we collected considerable plume material along with a mixture of various types of agates on the hillside just west of the GPS point. South of there along both sides of the road for quite some distance we located considerable amounts of petrified wood, with several pieces in the 30 – 40 lb range. Members of our group also found 2 arrow heads, one at Site A and one at Site C.
