Directions: Mitchell’s directions will get you there, but it is easier to go west from Tucson on Ajo Way, AZ 86, then turn on Sunset or Sheridan as the map in the book shows. Turn left on Irvington and right on Butts Rd which will turn to gravel and lead up toward the hill. The site is at the top of the hill where you may see green in the rocks. It gets steep toward the top.

Notes: Unless you are satisfied with some smaller chrysocolla chunks spread around in float, you will need some heavier tools (heavy hammer, gads, chisels) to score some better rock. The chrysocolla is plentiful and solid, but there isn’t much malachite. There appeared to be a large block containing azurite, but we didn’t have to go after it. We brought back a few smaller chunks of chrysocolla and one 30 pounder that I hacked out with my rock hammer.
