Directions: The Gem Trails map and directions are good enough to get you to the site. The area is within a national forest and there are a few good camp sites near the digs.

Maury Mountain agate beds
Date: August 2007
Notes: We were not prepared to do extensive digging and did have much to show for the trip. There were a few small chips of the famous red and green Maury Moss agate, but the area is extensive with many earlier excavations and it was hard to decide where to start. We’ve heard that good quality agate is still being found, but not without hard work.
