Directions: Follow Mitchell’s directions from US 80 down Apache Powder Rd, but at the indicated mileage, the “ruts” are now a country road signed “Desert Rose Lane”. Follow it to the end, bear left and stay with the road until you reach the bluffs below the mesa.

Notes: Don’t bother digging in the red earth as suggested and avoid the hill where the road seems to end. Instead work the bluffs toward the right (north), looking for small selenite crystals on the surface to help you locate likely areas for digging. We didn’t do a lot of digging, but found several small (1″) selenite stars near the surface. We didn’t find well formed roses.
