I made it up to the site this past Memorial Day 2010. I drove N on Yellow Butte Rd from the highway, but the road wasn’t marked, only paved for about… 20 feet? Drove for quite awhile, taking numerous side roads to look for the site. finally just gave up and started driving the rest of the road to get out of the area.

As we continued driving, I could see a burnt out, shot up modular home sitting back in the pine trees a few hundred feet. A couple hundred feet further north along the road I saw a discoloration of the hillside through the trees. I turned around and tried once more. Thankfully this turned out to be the site. Many pieces of malachite stains, found a few very thin pieces of actual malachite. Also found a good deal of chrysocolla, though nothing substantial. No material that could be worked with, only nice hand pieces.

The map is very not to scale. Make sure you note the little arrows with mileages. Just drive straight in till you see the shot up mobile home mentioned in the comment above and turn in right there. The site is just to the right of the mobile home. We found plentiful chrysocolla and lots of bear tracks.
